Website or Mobile App: Which Should Your Business Build First?

Many businesses ask for an app when a website would do the job better. Here is how to decide.

When a business decides to go digital, the first idea is often a mobile app. Sometimes that is right. Often a website is the better first step.

A website is found through Google, opens with one tap and needs no installation. If you need new customers to discover you, this matters most. Very few people will install an app for a business they have never heard of.

An app earns its place when people return often. Think of daily ordering, tracking, attendance or anything that needs notifications, the camera or offline use. If your customers use you a few times a year, they will not keep your app on their phone.

Cost is part of the decision too. An app means building for Android and iPhone, passing store reviews and updating as phones change. A responsive website is usually simpler to build and to change.

A sensible path for most businesses is a fast website first, followed by an app once customers are returning regularly and asking for it. By then you know what they really want, and you build less that nobody uses.

If you are unsure which suits your business, tell us what your customers do and how often. We will suggest the smallest version that proves the idea.
